As I write this, just about all that’s left to do in 2014 is save a few files, close some applications and shut down my computer. That will be it, lights out on my first full ‘Christmas to Christmas’ year of freelancing. Time to swap pixels for presents, for a few days at least.
It’s been a pretty crazy year, all in all. Busy in a good way, busy in a bad way; most of the time sat at my desk looking at my digital window on a world which continues to bring out the very best and the very worst in people. There’s a lot more to say about that, but this little review is neither the time nor the place. Let’s hope 2015 treats a lot of people more kindly.
Christmas is a holiday with the capacity to bring into intense focus both what people are lucky to have, and what they might be missing. I am so fortunate to look forward to some time off with my family. This will be our first Christmas at home in quite a few years, and we look forward to beginning our own traditions, as well as reprising those we remember fondly.
Before long, the new year will arrive, heralding the hour to shake off the miasma of overindulgence and ‘up tools’. Until then, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
